Officers from the Westport Police Department responded to Stop & Shop on Post Road at 4:05 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, where there was a report of a woman allegedly shoplifting.

It is alleged that the woman, later identified as Westport resident Teri Torres, was detained after being caught walking throughout the grocery store, placing items in a reusable bag before leaving the market without attempting to pay for any of the merchandise.

Further investigation found that Torres had a pair of outstanding warrants for violating her probation, police said.

Torres was taken into custody without incident and charged with sixth-degree larceny and two counts of violation of probation. She was released after posting $66,500 in bonds and scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Thursday, May 27 to respond to the probation charges and again on Friday, May 28 in Norwalk Superior Court on the larceny charge.
